Parents Start Petition to Stop School Layoffs

They plan to give the petition to the board of trustees Tuesday to urge them not to layoff teachers.

 

Parents of Temecula students started a petition to stop teacher layoffs.

They plan to present the petition to the 's superintendent and at a meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.

"We need signatures, people to write to the board members and our local legislators and help speak up for the quality of our children's education," said Karina Foster, one of the volunteers.

The board of trustees last month approved 120 pink slips in case they need to lay off teachers when the state approves the school's budget.
