Winners of last year's Division 5 CIF Championship, the Lancers visited the Temecula Valley Bears and came away with a 2-0 win.

The Temecula Valley High School boys soccer team marked its final pre-league match against Lakeside High School with a 2-0 loss Thursday, but the Bears defense kept the CIF champs from doing serious damage.

Even after moving up one division in CIF, Lakeside is 11-4-1 on the season and begins Sunbelt League action Jan. 8. Temecula Valley is 4-6-3 and next plays its first Southwestern League match at Vista Murrieta Jan. 9.

Thursday's action on the Bear's field was telling. Both Lakeside goals came in the first half. Junior Oscar Barragan connected with the first score midway through the period. Minutes later, senior Mateo Baltazar came through with the second and final goal of the game.
