Queen's Lord Visits Great Oak

The Lord Lieutenancy to the Queen of England is scheduled to visit Great Oak High School.

Roger Bramble, the Queen of England's Lord Lieutenancy, and seven dignitaries, were slated to visit a Temecula high school.

He should arrive at 10 a.m. Saturday at according to Melanie Norton, a spokesperson for the district.

The dignitaries are on a mission to hand-deliver an invitation to the high school's marching band and guard to perform in London's New Year's Day Parade, Norton said.

The band is scheduled to perform in London's 26th New Year's Day Parade on Jan. 1, 2012.

"To be invited as one of the overseas groups to participate in this event is a tremendous honor," Norton wrote in an announcement. "This experience will broaden our students' view of the world, provide a premier performance opportunity and connect our talented students from Temecula to a worldwide community."
