Riverside County Board of Ed Members Sworn into Office

Jay N. Hoffman, a former Nuview schools superintendent, was sworn in for Trustee Area 7, which includes the Temecula Valley, Murrieta Valley, and Lake Elsinore unified school districts.

Two new and one returning members of the Riverside County Board of Education were sworn into office Wednesday, according to a news release.

Seats for five out of seven trustee areas were on the ballot June 5. Winning with 64.21 percent of the vote for Trustee Area 7, which includes Temecula Valley, Murrieta Valley, and Lake Elsinore unified school districts, was Jay N. Hoffman.

Hoffman, a former Nuview Union School District superintendent, was sworn in Wednesday along with two other Board newcomers: Former Riverside Unified School District Superintendent Susan J. Rainey (Trustee Area 3), and retired teacher and former Shasta County superintendent Ralph R. Villani (Trustee Area 5).

Returning to the Board are incumbents Bruce Dennis of Nuevo (Trustee Area 4) and Elizabeth Romero Toledo of Thermal (Trustee Area 6).

The final two members of the Board are Gerald P. Colapinto of Corona (Trustee Area 1) and Lynne D. Craig from the Jurupa area (Trustee Area 2).

At the same meeting, trustees chose their officers for the next year: President Gerald P. Colapinto, and Vice President Elizabeth Romero Toledo.
