Interesting, both of my daughters came to TVUSD from SDUSD being GATE students but there was no real program set in place here, I think I shall contact their schools now to see if they need to test again. Thanks for the info :)

Why is that a picture of transportation?

Same for mine Lynn, I was told that they'd be tought by teachers with GATE credentials...that's a joke too. My hopes are that now they are actually going to do something with the GATE students they already are. Why do more testing if there is no real program?

GATE is a Joke and a huge failure, much like the entire public school system!

We relocated to Temecula for the schools. Both my children were gate students prior to relocating. They had programs to enhance their learning at their previous school. However, since we have been in the tvusd, there has been absolutely no attention or extra advanced learning objectives for my children. This has been brought to the attention to several teachers which say "there is nothing specific, our students are "clustered in groups". Really? Haven't seen it. Actually it is a joke! From my understand, there is a grant that funds this program. Where is the $ going ?????

Is GATE yet another one of our useless admin. programs hoisted on students by Edu. bureaucrats to justify their jobs. Let teachers do their job and teach, Stop wasting their time with this Bureaucratic BS. Look at the facts below, They should be a wake up call to all parents , and teachers, to cut the bureaucracy that stifles our education system. " The three-yearly OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) report, which compares the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds in 70 countries around the world, ranked the United States 14th out of 34 OECD countries for reading skills, 17th for science and a below-average 25th for mathematics.

like everything else those that surpass the class are held back so that those that do poorly don't look and feel so poorly. I have had 2 children in GATE, even told by teachers that they were freaky smart and they didn't know what to do with them. The only time I saw the difference was when they went to middle school. They were finally put into accelerated classes. Remember the days when kids would skip a grade if they were too smart and were held back if they couldn't keep up?
