Temecula Youth Advance in Elks Hoop Shoot Competition

The six first-place winners will advance to the Elks District competition on Jan. 26 in Corona.

Temecula Valley Elks #2801 recently held its annual Hoop Shoot Competition at the Temecula Recreation Center in Temecula. 

Spike Lunn, Temecula Valley Elks Hoop Shoot chairman, reported that 46 local schools were invited to participate in the annual Hoop-Shoot contest.

All participants shot 25 free throws from the free-throw line on the basketball court. More than 100 students participated in the contest. The six first-place winners will advance to the Elks District competition on Jan. 26 in Corona.

This Hoop-Shoot contest is a National Elks contest with thousands of participants from across the nation trying to reach the finals, to be held later this year.

Girls Division -

8-9 Year Old Division: Grayse Fa' asua from Nicolas Valley Elementary  

10-11 Year Old Division: Amy Wellman from Temecula Middle School

12-13 Year Old Division: Ashley Fisher from Van Avery Prep

Boys Division -

8-9 Year Old Division: Garrett Yoe from Van Avery Prep

10-11 Year Old Division: Anthony Tulimero from Temecula Middle School

12-13 Year Old Division: Caleb Eastwood from Day Middle School
