Thousands of Students Vying for Coveted Spots at Temecula Charter School

The following was submitted for publication by Temecula Preparatory School:

Temecula Preparatory School (TPS) will pull its lottery to determine enrollment for the school year of 2014-2015 on Tuesday, April 29 at 9:00 a.m.   TPS currently has 1837 students on its wait list. The lottery will be held at: 35777 Abelia Street, Temecula, CA 92596 and is open to the public.

According to its charter and state law, students living within the Temecula Valley School District will receive priority in the lottery.

TPS is a non-profit, tuition-free, charter school as such its enrollment must be determined by a non-partial lottery system. TPS uses a computer generated lottery system which randomly determines enrollment to ensure complete fairness.

Year over year for the past five years, TPS has maintained a waiting list of 1800+.  This is one of the main reasons for its goal to open another campus in Menifee, CA which is to be called Menifee Valley Preparatory School. The demand in the valley is apparent and TPS hopes to replicate its sound program in order to help relieve the pent up demand on its waiting lists. Menifee Valley Preparatory School currently has 677 preliminary applications and is waiting for approval from the Menifee Union School District to hold its lottery.

I don't think your comments are being deleted. It is apparent that Patch is still working the bugs out of the new "Reply" feature.

Where does the funding come from for this school?

@ChrisG can you please elaborate? Are we for public funded schools or aren't we?

It's nearly impossible to get into this school.
Very interesting May 04, 2014 at 09:17 AM
This is an amazing school. If Menifee does not want to embrace it they should try Murrieta or even a secondary Temecula campus. They teach a classical education style and not to all these silly state tests. However, my son still scores advanced when having to take them. As we consider moving out of state this summer, this school is one thing I will truly miss.
