Friday, October 11, 2013-- TEMECULA, CA -- The Temecula Valley Unified School District’s (TVUSD) Open Enrollment period, when new Intra-District Transfer requests can be submitted, will begin October 14 and conclude December 20. The Open Enrollment period allows parents who live within the District’s boundaries to submit a request for their child to attend a TVUSD school other than their designated home school. Space availability is the major determining factor for approval. Parents can see a list of schools currently at capacity at www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/enrollment_restrictions.
All transfers received within the Open Enrollment period (Oct. 10-Dec. 20) will receive equal consideration regardless of the date they are turned in. Only transfers received during this time period will be considered as “Open Enrollment” transfers. If the number of transfers exceeds the number of spaces available at the school of choice, a lottery will be held.
Children presently on an Intra-district transfer will automatically be renewed to the current transfer school for the 2014/2015 school year, unless the transfer is cancelled by the parent, or if space availability is an issue at the transfer site. In this case, notice of a space issue will be mailed prior to May 30, 2014.
Parents of promoting 5th and 8th graders wanting their child to attend a middle or high school other than their designated school of residence will need to apply for a new transfer. Promoting students matriculate to the next school based on their residence address, not the last school of attendance.
Intra-district Transfer Request forms may be obtained on the TVUSD website at: www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/cwa_intradistrict_transfers, or at the District Office, located at 31350 Rancho Vista Road in the Child Welfare and Attendance Office, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Completed forms must be returned to the Child Welfare and Attendance Office for final review. You may return in person or fax to (951) 676-6701.
For questions regarding this process, please contact the Child Welfare and Attendance Office at (951) 506-7984.
