Middle/High School Rolley Hockey Sign-Ups

TEMECULA ---- About 160 middle and high school students from campuses across Southwest County will soon defend
their schools’ honor and battle it out for bragging rights, as the Temecula Valley Inline Hockey Association gears up to launch its middle and high school season.

Tryouts are set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Ronald Reagan Sports Park rink in Temecula. The season launches
Jan. 9 and runs through March, with practices beginning mid-December. Game nights are Fridays for middle school teams, and Tuesdays/Thursdays for high school teams.

About 160 area students signed up for the 2010-11 season, and volunteers with the Temecula Valley Inline Hockey Association, the nonprofit that runs the league, said they expect another strong turnout.

“Kids continue to return because they have a blast,” said Scott Fink, association president. “It’s a fast-paced,
exciting sport. The kids love the fact that they are playing cross-town rivals. It adds an extra layer of competitiveness and determination. You can see how
bad they want the win.”

Unlike the association’s fall and spring recreation seasons, which help hockey players develop skills, the middle
and high school season is competitive, and meant to offer students a chance to chase a championship. Traditionally, most middle and high schools in Temecula and Murrieta have put together a team, however students from across Southwest County are welcome.
