Temecula HS Gridiron Summary For Week Ending Sept. 14

Here's a summary of last Friday's Temecula high school football games.

Temecula Valley

Temecula Valley hosted the Lancers from Lakeside and sent them packing with a decisive 40-0 victory.

Some highlights from the Bear's game included:

  • Senior quarterback Kyle Plantier completed 8 of 13 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Junior receiver Kumar Kilambi caught four passes for 67 yards and one TD.
  • Senior receiver Greg Jensen caught three passes for 48 yards and two TDs.
  • Senior running back Garrison Flores rushed 23 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Star defenders junior Manny Burgess, senior Samori Buchanan and senior Sol Mota were each credited with eight tackles.  
  • Burgess had seven solo tackles and two fumble recoveries.
The Bears are now 2-0 and will travel to the 1-2 Tigers of Elsinore on Friday. Elsinore is currently ranked the fifth in CIF-Southern Section (Central Division).

Chaparral

The Pumas find themselves 1-1 on the season after a loss at Oceanside Friday. The score was 35-17.

In the latest CIF-Southern Section rankings, Chaparral is 14th. The highly-ranked Oceanside Pirates are 13th in the state in the latest maxpreps.com poll.

Next up for the Pumas is Carter in Rialto this Friday.

Great Oak

The Wolfpack had what it took come home with a win at Rancho Verde, 43-42. This was not a game fans would want to have left early from as the battle went into overtime following a 35-35 tie at the end of regulation.

Rancho Christian

The Eagles are currently 1-2 overall following a win by forfeit this last Friday over Southlands Christian.

Previous games:
  • Aug. 30 versus Tri-City Christian (Vista) resulted in a 35-20 loss
  • Sept. 6 versus Army-Navy (Carlsbad) ended in a 41-7 loss

This Friday, the Eagles host Calvary Christian Academy (Chula Vista).

Linfield Christian

Coach DeChon Burns' Lions are now 2-1 following a home field loss against St. Margaret's (San Juan Capistrano), 23-7 last Thursday. Linfield Christian is ranked 10th in the latest CIF-Southern Section (East Valley Division) poll.

Previous weeks found them on the winning side:
  • Aug. 30 versus Meadows (Las Vegas), a 45-0 victory at home
  • Sept. 6 versus Notre Dame (Riverside), a 17-7 win on the road
