Video: Locals Walk To Honor Boston Marathon Victims

An early morning run honors those affected by the Boston bombings.

Nearly 100 runners and walkers turned out for a 5K to honor the victims and survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Of the participants, four of them were in the Boston Marathon.

Runners and walkers hit the streets shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday from Monte De Oro Winery just outside of Temecula. The course took participants about 1.5 miles down Monte De Oro Road, where they turned around and went back to Rancho California Road and headed east to the finish line at Wilson Creek Winery.

Watching the bombings on TV “just really affected me and I knew I had to do something as a runner,” said Susan Tyler, who is the Get Fit Temecula running coach. “There were just no words, just shock and horror.

“It should not have happened.”

When asked about her thoughts on the suspect who allegedly committed the bombings, Tyler had this to say: “I just don’t even want him to enter into my thoughts,” she said. “Whatever his plan was, I don’t care, my thoughts are with the victims.”
