VIDEO: Temecula Honors Olympic Medalist Sarah Hammer

"I definitely felt everyone's cheers from London. I knew I had a whole city behind me and I wanted to make you guys proud..." Hammer said.

Silver and pro cyclist Sarah Hammer was honored by Aug. 21 by the city of Temecula.

Mayor Chuck Washington asked Hammer to be the honorary chairperson of her hometown's Bike Lane and Trail sub committee, to which she agreed.

Members of the area's and others in the cycling community were in attendance as Hammer, 29, was presented a key to the city.

"I definitely felt everyone's cheers from London. I knew I had a whole city behind me and I wanted to make you guys proud..." said Hammer, who has been a resident of Temecula since she was 8 years old.

She said she decided at 13 she wanted to "do something special, I wanted to represent the United States in the Olympics."
