Halloween Decorating Ideas for Your Temecula Home

Decorating your yard for Halloween can be tricky. Too much or too little can appear tacky or too store bought. If decorating for the year's spookiest holiday leaves you in a tangle of cobbwebs and costume paint, step back and remember Oct. 31st is all about trickery and fun. Several DIY decorations and simple tricks can turn your front yard or entry space into a spooky, but relatively clean space.

Carving pumpkins is a must, but sometimes with the warm temps, raw pumpkins sitting outdoors for hours upon end can result in a mushy mess no one wants to walk around. Good news is, there are several alternatives to dress up pumpkins for the entire Halloween season, or up until a few days before when the carved pumpkins will last until Oct. 31 unscathed by high temperatures. Painting the pumpkins or using stick-ons are perfect carving alternatives and the supplies for both are readily available in craft and specialty stores around Temecula.

In the spirit of low-maintenance decorations, cobwebs, thematic doormats and wreaths are perfect for perking up a lawn and front door, without much effort. Wreaths and doormats can be carried throughout all of fall, not just around Halloween. Another low maintenance idea that doubles as reusable home decor is placing lanterns along outdoor walkways with candles of any type. Wrought iron and glass lanterns can be reused outdoors, in entry ways and around the house after trick or treating is over.

When you reach the bottom of the candy bowl remember Halloween should never be stressful, but low-maintenance and fun. Your decorations can pull double duty as seasonal and reusable decor. One of our favorite references for all things seasonal decor is Martha Stewart. For further tips and suggestions check here.
