The horse needs dental work and has arthritis and a heart condition, so the animal cannot be ridden, according to the Press-Enterprise.

Little Blackie is not the first horse adopted in such circumstances, CEO Monika Kerber told the newspaper. “We are very happy to have Little Blackie here at Villa Chardonnay,” she said. “He will retire here and have a home for the rest of his days. Back in 2003, we rescued a horse with similar circumstances, he lived with us for seven more years and died at 39 years old.”

The nonprofit rescue is looking for donations to help care for its new resident. Click here to make a donation or write a check to Villa Chardonnay Horses With Wings, Inc. and seemed ot tp 42200 Calle Barbona, Temecula, 92592.
