Military Families to Benefit from Coins

A new coin funnel was recently installed in the mall thanks to Joan Sparkman and the Rotary Club of Temecula.

Military families will benefit from a generous donation from Joan Sparkman and the Rotary Club.

Sparkman and the club recently purchased and installed a coin funnel at the Promenade Mall, the spokesperson for the Rotary, Judy Zulfiqar, recently wrote.

The funnel will collect donations for the Rotary Club of Temecula Military Family Support Project.

The funnel is on the second floor just inside the entrance to the mall between Starbucks and the Kirkland store, Zulfiqar stated.

The Rotary Club hopes to make a difference in the lives of military familes and provide them with resources to make their commitment and sacrifice a little more bearable.

“This kind and unwavering support from Joan Sparkman has allowed us the opportunity to start this fiscal year rolling with a tremendous gift. The coin funnel in the Temecula Promenade will provide the Military Family Support Project with self-sustaining funds for a long time to come. Joan’s contributions allow us the ability to make an immediate impact in this very worthy cause,” stated John Panique, the club's committee chairman, in an email.

The goal of these types of projects is to get the community involved.

“In the coming weeks, months and years, it is our goal to enlist the community and gain more of these partnerships to gain additional resources and assist in the recovery of several more suffering soldiers and their families,” Panique said.

The support is already coming in. Rotarian Howard Kack and his family recently gave a donation.

“Their generosity is exactly what will light the fire under our community and our military families and let them know that their lives will never be dark again in the community of Temecula,” said Panique.

The Rotary Club of Temecula is part of a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders.

Members of Rotary, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious and open to all cultures, races and creeds.

The Rotary Club of Temecula was founded in 1975 and currently has over 100 local business owners and professionals in the club.
