Two Local Students Win Americanism Essay Contest

The topic was "Why I Am Proud to Pledge Allegiance to the Flag."

 

Two local students won the California-Hawaii Elks Southeast District's annual Grand Lodge Americanism Essay Contest. 

This year, the essay topic was, “Why I Am Proud to Pledge Allegiance to the Flag."

Elijah Fang won in the first division, which includes grades five and six. Alexa Amatulli won in the second division, which includes grades seven and eight.

These students were presented with a $25 gift certificate from . The essays of both students have been forwarded on to the state level for additional judging.

had two schools participate with a total of 92 essays submitted.
