Flatiron Construction is a private company. They did bid and won. They barely broke ground on itRead More "a year ago." People develop very unrealistic expectations for how long these jobs take. That is why they use the phrase "projected completion." Vic: Your right about what you said and not to disagree with you but only the one that is about toRead More die unfortunately from perhaps a painful disease can rationalize how they want the end game to play out. Perhaps another look at assisted suicide might be in order. True, it may be against certain religious beliefs but its between God and the person that is begging him to take him and no one else. A policeman may have to think now before pulling the trigger and say to himself, Am i doing this person a favor? or, Will i feel good i put him out of his/her misery knowing that? or am i in front of some nut with a gun and can i talk him out of this? You cant pay me enough to do the job the police have to do and i wouldnt want to make the decisions they have to. Stone opposes and will work to repeal ObamaCare, according to his web siteRead More http://www.jeffstone2014.com/issues/. If Stone believes in the free market and that government should stay out of health care, why does the County not walk the talk and get out of the health care business? Why has the County expanded government with 5 conservatives at the helm? The County just borrowed $2 million from the Worker's Compensation Fund for sewers in wine country -- a project that is only half funded -- but the local press doesn't find that story newsworthy.

I dislike it when DISTRICT ATTORNEY CANDIDATES MAKE PUFFY CLAIMS "VOTE FOR ME. I AMRead More HARSH", "I WILL TAKE ALL THESE DANGEROUS AND VIOLENT CRIMINALS OFF THE STREET AND KEEP THE PUBLIC SAFE." County Supervisor's Jumping on the Band Wagon... Let the record reflect that I was the firstRead More civilian to endorse Mike Hestrin Publicly in Riverside County...I am Kind of proud of that! A few weeks later Zellerbach showed his appreciation and I was charged with multiple felonies he created literally out of thin air. It took a few months for my case to wind it's way through the court system. In the end, THREE separate judges ruled "NO CRIME WAS COMMITTED! ALL charges have been dismissed. I as Chairman of The Riverside County Leadership Forum, Zellerbach must have felt that my support for Mike Hestrin, his opponent might perhaps be the beginning of his undoing. When I sent out a memo to campaign donors that I was going to be supporting Mike Hestrin and that I suggested they wait to start writing checks to Zellerbach's campaign until they were able to meet Mike and get a better understanding of him, that they might also decide he was the better of the two candidates. A few days after that email went out, Zellerbach was forced to cancel a fundraiser due to lack of interest. Less than a week later, I received a letter from the DA telling me to turn myself in to the court and answer to Felony Death Threats and Stalking charges, ALL of my firearms have been confiscated by Zellerbachs orders and I am still to this day left defenseless in my very own home because of Paul Zellerbachs abuse of his authority. I will expand on this in our next newsletter that will be hitting email inboxes across Riverside County in a few day's Learn more about The Riverside County Leadership Forum here: http://www.riversideforum.org/

A PART OF THE PROBLEM IS THE CUT IN BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY. Persons thatRead More needed prescriptions to functions that needed a doctor interview to refill used to go to an appointment at any of several offices. The county cut out the branch and made everyone have to go to the main county mental hospital. There were no APPOINTMENTS. EVERYONE HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 4 HOURS OR MORE TO SEE THE DOCTOR FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND GET THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS REFILLED. People were standing in line for two or three hours every morning before the doctors even started seeing patients. The waiting AREAS WERE CROWDED AND STUFFY. I took someone there on several occasions. The nurses and staff were nice, but there were not enough of them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I THINK IT IS LIKELY THAT THE NUMBER OF SUICIDES IN RIVERSIDE COUNTY INCREASED BECAUSE OF THIS. ----- I THINK THERE WERE PERSONS WHO WERE ABLE TO BE EMPLOYED WHEN THEY HAD THEIR MEDICINE HAD TO STOP WORKING OR GOT FIRED BECAUSE THEY HAD TO MISS SO MANY DAYS FROM WORK TO GET THEIR DOCTOR INTERVIEW AND MEDICINE.

You have to compare apples to apples and a New York apple is not a California apple. If you do notRead More own property in CA then you will be subjected to outrageous rent increases. Looking back over the last 20 years I can say that homes that I had owned back then, I could not even come close to affording even with my increased income. For instance: a home in the year 2000 in a San Diego Suburb sold for approx.: $250,000. That same home right now is worth close to $650,000. So you do the math - the long term investment value is well worth it, meanwhile the mtg. is being paid down and the rates have been very low making the payments much more affordable than renting. When you hit retirement age - you can cash out and have a much better return on your money than a 401K. I bought another home during the market crash - rock bottom price $180,000. That same home is now worth well over $350,000 and what is even better is my mortgage payment is 1/2 what it would cost to rent the lowest priced rental in the area. That alone makes it worthwhile. Property is one of the last tangible investments. Be smart - own something people want to buy.

Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.
Susan Harris April 23, 2014 at 05:18 pm
"About the "socialist" or anti-American aspect- I know what people are talkingRead More about,.....There are to my knowledge, no CC social studies textbooks yet. It is the textbook publishers themselves (who helped write the CC and will produce all further materials anyway) who are twisted in this way. School boards don't actually read the textbooks they order....I didn't notice either until the CC thing came up. Then I said "What the hell is this?" ................................................................. .................................................................................. To put your mind at ease, what you were reading in your child's social studies books did not come from standards developed from the Common Core. CC standards only covers the content areas of literacy and math. On a separate note, High school history teachers, including myself, have long opined that there is a general void of knowledge coming from students in the lower grades. Since CT's American history standards received a failing grade from the notable Thomas B. Fordham foundation this is not surprising. But it is unacceptable. Just as our Governor, Commissioner, and State Board decided to substantially improve math and literacy teaching with the CC standards, we should look at the neighboring states of Mass. and NY who both rate in the upper tier- A, with their standards in American history.
Tamara April 23, 2014 at 06:24 pm
The Common Core web-site is a marketing pitch for Common Core. You must look beyond that and followRead More the money for the truth. People that are pro-Common Core like to say the same things over and over like, anti-Common Core people did not read the standards. They have no proof of that but they like to say it as if it validates Common Core... I could easily say people that are pro-Common Core are clueless about the realities of Common Core and don't really get what it truly is, but does that get us closer to best serving our children? No. I do hope people are diggin into both sides, and not just the sales pitch, but really learning about this because it is too important. *****************Everything that is anti-Common Core in this string has an article with names, dates, groups that met, etc. on this Facebook Page: Northville MI Parents for Educational Excellence There is also StopCommonCoreinMichigan. I hope the pro-CC people have done their homework and truly understand what they are approving. ************The Northville Facebook page has several examples on it of anti-American and pro-socialist materials. These are in the English course. Take a look at the porno book excerpts there, as well as the Percepolis book reveiw. ****************People are busy - if people all over the country are up in arms about something - there is probably something to it - please take the time to dig in.

Also on the Northville MI Parents for Educational Excellence page you can see links to the tests toRead More see how bias they are. Teachers will teach to the tests and if they are teaching something you don't like - too bad because it is on the test! *****There is also a link to the social studies standards. The social studies standards and science standards are liberal-bias, anti-American and actually just not accurate in a lot of cases. They tell our kids that they as citizens are meant to follow all the rules of the big bad government, for example. Things that made this country great and are still in existence, are few and far between - like the government is for the people and by the people and has limited powers... You wont find what the powers that be (follow the money) don't want the kids to learn. ******We all know what Hitler and many others have said about how to get to a nation and that is thru the kids minds... The proof is all there - please dig! Read the tests. ******We all WISH this was just "minimum standards"!

I honestly think people dont understand that Temecula is NOT the kind of town that they can come inRead More and think we are those residents that feel all safe and ignore the potential criminals that come into town. We have seen enough that we have gotten really big into neighborhood watches, and like on our street, most of us had started setting up affordable surveillance cameras, because our cars kept getting opened with some device or some just got into cars, and with our social media groups, which are neighborhood based facebook pages, we right away post if a neighbor had a car opened, or if we have just called on suspicious cars, and all along that criminal thinks we are being quiet in our house...but we have photos posted of a guy that we caught breaking into a car..and it's posted at the hazit, that someone put up on their wall outside. We are so proactive here, and getting more and more connected with our neighbors here in Temecula that it's crazy good, and we are pushing out those signwaving vagrants, who ask for change, lingering around stores, druggies, asking for "gas money" by telling everyone else to stop giving even a dime to these vagrants, scammers, because it brings more of them, and they are decreasing now..so fast, especially with the mayors new law/program to get them out..
