I thought of it more as a homicide myself. Didnt think he shot himself in the right place like he…Read More did her :(
RIP to both of them I suppose, but the Mrs. didnt appear to stand a chance. Don't understand why married people just dont get a divorce or seperate, or............just not kill each other for Godsake. I guess that would only be in a perfect world ...............

My heart is extremely heavy hearing of this senseless tragedy. I personally knew the woman that lost…Read More her life, as we worked together in an HR department at a local Temecula company. She was always smiling and very soft spoken. This is such a tragic loss to our community, My thoughts and prayers are with her family, RIP Dana.
Pkmd May 17, 2013 at 10:56 am
This is such a sad and tragic story and sadly it happens to often. If the story is true about the…Read More couple having children, I couldn’t possible know the pain that they are feeling. I truly will pray for this couples children and I hope they know that there will be many other people doing the same.
By the way I am fortunate to have wonderful neighbors and often we get together just to visit. It's not only wonderful because they are friends but also wonderful for security in our neighborhoods. Maybe it’s time that other people take just a moment out of their day to say “hi” to their neighbor. It’s really not that hard.
Brenda May 19, 2013 at 11:43 am
Ha LOL Ken. Good memory.
Hey heard a story that this was a 3 way kind of relationship, or another…Read More woman involved. She is now under police protection for some reason? Man did NOT do a good shot to actually kill himself. But not sure what he thought if would still end up with alive? A shot at a lifetime relationship with the 2nd woman? From a jail cell? Or actually he was going to blame it on a home burglary gone bad?
Don't know if what I heard is true, but we will see. I sure dont like paying police protection on a woman who got into an affair with married man. She needs to pay for her own protection.

JJ, Ken, Joseph, I agree with you gentlemen. I definately am old enough to have enjoyed the shows…Read More on TV, but I am stuck on Millie too. LOL
But on a serious note its a tragedy that this is the 2nd case to happen like this in Temecula in about 6 months I think. Remember the other one? Anyway, a couple about the same age also.
Maybe it is a lack of friends in general as we get older and neighbor interaction throughout the day. I am 53 near the age of these 2 couples that this has happened to and I cannot even begin to understand what would cause one or the other to do this.
Joseph your post could easily bring tears because you hit our society spot on. When I was raising my daughters up in Whittier the entire block was like the farmers of long ago and it was wonderful and I miss it so much.
Then as time went on and then here to Temecula others all work during the day, a few are disabled, 2 houses have children my grandsons age but they are never out to play with him. Even though still every Christmas we go around and deliver cookies on our culdesac. 2 others also do that.
When I was young, and then my girls were young there was kids all over the place playing, and always at my house (dont know how I survived) and we were not worried so much about "the bad man" as parents were out all over on the street.
We used to leave all our windows open even at night until about 2 yrs ago when the crime rate and several incidents have just happened too close for comfort. I hate to have windows closed! Not even a screen door to leave the front door open!
Its a sad day when we are constantly looking over our shoulder just to get in the house from the car :(
I miss the neighborhood bbq pot lucks and kids everywhere Joseph, I really do :/ And I still dont remember who Millie is!

Many years ago I was involved with the old Kiosk Fotomat Stores and these men are horrible.
They…Read More will use any opportunity where a girl cannot run immediately away to do their thing, get that excitement of having them see them, and then drive off.
Usually whether at a Fotomat Kiosk, or even when I was a kid it was very easy to write down the license plate number and the guy was arrested within an hour or so.
Everyone told the police that same ole story...."I didnt know why I did it, she was just there, and it was easy". Its an awful moment when this is done to a female, as close to rape as you can get. Its something that doesnt go away for a long time and in most aspects the woman has been assaulted because she is put in a position where she has to see "IT".
Men, get over it, keep it locked up, zipped up, and get some counciling now before you end up in jail with the BIG BOYS.

Cash, yes and its great and I sure hope it lasts. Have not heard of this occuring again yet so we…Read More will see how well they keep up with the promise to do this until the end of the year. It should be happening everyday and unfortunately its newsworthy because people are being killed and/or seriously injured way too much. If these drivers were stopped by patrol officers or camera tickets they would have dumped their sense of "owning" the roads and slowed down, quit running stop lights and stopped with the wreckless moves. Hell I was passed in the LEFT lane last night on La Serena. He could not pass me on the right due to sidewalk and we had just left the signal light, and I guess he wanted to show off his speed in the new car and almost immediately passed me on the wrong side of the road! What makes it worse is in within another few yards I would be getting into a left hand turn lane!!!! It was a new car so no dang license plates.
Rich Kirkpatrick May 22, 2013 at 07:42 am
Cameras are a good idea, as long as the contract profits local jobs and not Arizona ones like the…Read More San Diego system does.
Vicky Hedderman May 14, 2013 at 08:44 pm
5 years? Are you kidding me?? One of those "moderate" injuries was my daughter, a mother…Read More of 4, on the "pleasant " outing to California from Las Vegas. She is suffering still from neck back and arm pain-and of course, without her car which was totaled. 5 years? She probably will always have chronic pain and they are talking major neck surgery. I am thoroughly disgusted. He STOLE a friggin semi hit many cars causing permanent pain to how many people. Tough on crime? NOT!!
Larry Cawhorn May 14, 2013 at 07:18 pm
The beat goes on. Someone knows this person(s). Do him/her a just action and report them...now!…Read More Funny, I think not.

Maybe trial runs going on... Stay alert everyone and let your kids know what to do in case a real…Read More situation arises. Establish key code words to communicate and establish safe zones. Stay alert everyone just in case.
Jmac May 12, 2013 at 01:58 am
You have to be kidding? They didn't evacuate you because you were testing but evacuated everyone…Read More else in your surrounding building. I am a parent and I would be so upset. They risked your life so you wouldn't be disturbed? Something needs to be done about this, whose decision was that? I am still in shock. I heard many people in the community question Chaparral's leadership, if this is true us parents need to demand answers.
Donna Reid May 10, 2013 at 04:01 pm
I, too, thank you Mrs. Hintergardt for your incredible sacrifice. Every time I see one of our local…Read More officers I wave and smile because I worry that perhaps they don't know just how much their service is appreciated. The risk they take every day in order to protect us is so cherished and rare. Your husband is a hero, and I and my family thank you for honoring him so beautifully. We wish you and your daughters much love and peace. We join the community in sincere sorrow for your loss.
DeMarie Rossi May 10, 2013 at 02:40 am
Thank you Mrs. Hintergardt for your sacrifice - as a resident of Murrieta I appreciate the…Read More dedication of the officers and their families to the safety of our families. We take our law enforcement for granted, but it is because of each and every one of them that we can safely live in our homes. I am so very sorry for your loss.
mel May 14, 2013 at 07:04 pm
Brenda
thanks for the kind words. Yes I have anger but I know she is in heaven looking down on us…Read More now. We were at the school yesterday where she worked they all wore purple shirts and they and a moment of silence they put make her name out of cups and put it on the fence. We didn;t realize how many kids she touched we were hugged by 700 kids it was something
mel May 14, 2013 at 06:58 pm
Hell yes it is a hit and run. As any law in the states you are to stay near the car and not move it.…Read More He Hit my daughter car so hard it went spinning and ended on a hill. His car was so damageed it quit running in the Target parking lot. I bet you if it was able to drive he would have kept on going! So if yhou dont know the rules of the road you better turn in your driver licesne because persons like you shouldnt be on the road!
Brenda May 12, 2013 at 09:03 pm
H- When I read your husbands short account of some of what went on the first thing I thought of was…Read More he was drunk, being on the curb in his truck, or going around someone?.
Then after the collision I think he wanted to get away at some point, but you had followed him, thanks to God or he might have kept going.
I am sure there is more to this horrible crime and I am not sure finding out anymore will help any of us here in Temecula sleep better. Shari and her death is in everyones hearts and minds and in our conversations.
H May 12, 2013 at 03:55 pm
Protector.......Thank you for your beautiful picture of Shari. I have been sick about the crash and…Read More your families loss since it happened. I had a distinct view of what happened BEFORE and during the crash as I was a car next to Sharinas. The truck was up on the curb/sidewalk for some time before the crash. Did anyone else see this? My husband gave a short account here. http://temecula.patch.com/articles/driver-accused-of-manslaughter-hit-and-run-in-deadly-temecula-crash . There is more. It may not matter. Maybe it does. Should you, your family and the law believe prosecution is necessary this information may help you. This is such a tender subject. I hesitate to write but seems wrong not to. I gave a short statement to the police away from the scene of the crash, as I had followed the truck to get the license plate number. Sometimes statements get lost in the details. The law has alot on their plates. I think about this situation most of my day. I am SO sad for your family. If you need to make contact I am willing to help.

I love the comment from Ms. Petty. Her son PLED GUILTY and AGREED to his sentence. He was charged…Read More with a bunch of stuff involving robbery, guns, drugs and gangs. Let his ass rot!
Felica Petty May 7, 2013 at 03:01 pm
The state of California adopted the longer sentencing laws over 10 years ago, many inmates in our…Read More overcrowded prisons are actually there way to long and not reformed in any way unless they have a family support system that keeps them moving forward. I personally see this weekly when I visit my own son whom is incarcerated and was given an excessive sentence 19 yrs 8 months compared to other cities ( convicted in Riverside County). I seriously believe our sentencing quide lines need to be re-evaluted and these are the inamtes whom should be given the oportunity for early release. Not the ones who sit and do absolutely nothing but live off the state and just dont care... Always fighting for my sons freedom Michael R. Petty 777777

After reading this, it really seems like an accident. They did not intentionally do this to that…Read More child. Its bad and it is their fault but it was an accident. I feel bad for the kid but I mean put the prices together. They brought him to the hospital.... that's not how child abuse works.
wolfcreek May 12, 2013 at 08:53 pm
Right now these criminals are getting assistance from the government and hopefully for a long time.
Marie Fisher May 12, 2013 at 04:30 pm
maybe law enforcement.should get the drugs off the street lots of drug dealers they can catch out…Read More there

It's not a far reach "SA" a disabled student was baited into providing pot to an…Read More undercover cop. The student did not have pot to begin with. Autistic and special needs kids are incredibly vulnerable and are easily manipulated. The school district failed to protect him from temecula pd's predatory practices.
This was no mistake "Only my thought", the student was targeted by an undercover officer and pressured into getting marijuana to gain his friendship.
He has autism not adhd "Jill", people with autism typically never reach an age where it just magically goes away. Had he not been coerced by the police on school grounds he would not have committed a crime.
If the "sting" operation targeted a specific group of people, in this case special ed students then yes the school did indeed discriminate against the student "TVOR".

STANLEY...hahah. Yeah right. I guess you wouldn't know what it takes so you simply don't understand.…Read More Fact is, some of us are quite ready and willing to do what it takes and having gun power does not make you shrink in fear, but instead instills confidence that you can handle it and are well prepared.

As much of a hype as it sounds, there are those of us who have families, in my case young daughters…Read More and I live right between those two areas. I may not be a "tough guy" but I gaurantee I'll use the 1st amendment to it's full extent before taking orders in my own home. I hope it goes that way for this guy, it will save the taxpayers a lot of $ in the long run and send a message as well. The alternative; get bigger dogs and more of them!

I do NOT understand why ANYONE would read this article and instead of wanting to help do something…Read More about the problems we have in our town with running red lights, stop signs and traffic incidents killing or severely injuring people you are tearing apart ONE WORD, PATIENT, for Godsake. Anyone reading the article knows what the author means so why act so stupid? Then waste time to spell, diction check instead of responding to the wreck, the injuries of these women?
I call that pretty wierd and certainly uncaring.
If you want to edit something try the websters dictionary that might keep you busy for a very long time. :)

MMM-Okay. Fair enough! Just seems like you're more into bustin' out the razor blade and splittin'…Read More hairs than being appreciative. Maybe you could use your experience to make this better then, yeah?
Brenda May 8, 2013 at 03:41 am
Happens all the time jb :/ As if 45mph is not fast enough right?
I think we do as citizens need…Read More to start taking our video camera's with us in the car and video tape what we can and post them here.
Or even stand on a corner of like Winchester/Margarita and all the other corners that are problems in our town and video tape constantly with license plates blocked out but the tapes given to the City and police in their entirety.
Maybe our City officials do not really realize how bad it is out there?? Do they read the "Patch"? Hmmm.
wolfcreek April 27, 2013 at 12:55 am
Too bad the Patch did not supply the same story. It’s 101 reporting.
Kristin Kanester April 26, 2013 at 02:42 pm

Deputy Kent Hintergardt was shot and killed when he responded to a domestic disturbance. So Linda Im curious .When you were at the meeting how many of you guys had to convince the city to…Read More put up the money . Was it an arguement where the city folk were unresponsive . While a sketch is a far cry from an arrest, I am happy to see some forward momentum in this case.…Read More This has been said numerous times, but it bears repeating: Larry was one of the most gentle souls to walk the streets of this valley. Though I only knew him in a pedestrian capacity, as a musician with physical limitations myself, I can almost tell you a part of his story; the salvation he found in music. Justice must be served, even in the most modest way. No punitive measure will ever even the scales in this tragic case.
Gandhi April 25, 2013 at 07:30 pm
As I stated above, we have procured a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of…Read More the murder(ers) of Larry Robinson. Attended two city council meetings, made the request, got it on the agenda, the "mayor" could see that it behooved him politically to do this, and now its done. $25,000 reward and growing kiddies - pass it on! You can contribute to this reward fund also, it stays open for 5 years, if the murderer is not caught by the end of 5 years money reverts to city and donors. It pays to get involved in your government, take the time, I did.

I'm just curious ... why all the scuttle over Summerhouse ... when there are several apartment…Read More complexes in Temecula that are low income, income subsidized properties.
