Arresting people for prostitution (selling or receiving services) is an asinine waste of taxpayers'Read More money and typifies a police state mentality which seeks to impose an obnoxious set of moralistic taboos on others. If this is the most important "crime" the cops can find, they should just quit and stay home, eat donuts and groom their small mustaches.

As in many ancient cultures, Ukrainians worshipped a sun god (Dazhboh). The sun was important - itRead More warmed the earth and thus was a source of all life. Eggs decorated with nature symbols became an integral part of spring rituals, serving as benevolent talismans. In pre-Christian times, Dazhboh was one of the main deities in the Slavic pantheon; birds were the sun god's chosen creations, for they were the only ones who could get near him. Humans could not catch the birds, but they did manage to obtain the eggs the birds laid. Thus, the eggs were magical objects, a source of life. The egg was also honored during rite-of-Spring festivals––it represented the rebirth of the earth. The long, hard winter was over; the earth burst forth and was reborn just as the egg miraculously burst forth with life. The egg, therefore, was believed to have special powers. With the advent of Christianity, via a process of religious syncretism, the symbolism of the egg was changed to represent, not nature's rebirth, but the rebirth of man. Christians embraced the egg symbol and likened it to the tomb from which Christ rose. With the acceptance of Christianity in 988, the decorated pysanka, in time, was adapted to play an important role in Ukrainian rituals of the new religion. Many symbols of the old sun worship survived and were adapted to represent Easter and Christ's Resurrection. The world's largest pysanka is in Alberta, Canada to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the RCMP.

Seriously, where are the parents who teach these girls of 12 and UP, to not take off their pants??Read More To school teachers and anyone else? If they do it willingly knowing some sort of sexual things are going to happen, then who is here to put all the blame on the teacher? I sure cant because if my daughters had done something like that they would have known exactly what was going to happen because we drilled molestations and predators into their heads from the time they started school. We taught them every possible scenerio we knew and any new ones that came up in the news on how these predators get to them. If these girls are getting "molested" then parents are seriously lacking in talking and relating to their children and their schools are even at fault for not making sure they are watching all the videos they show now about just this subject. I am sorry, but if these girls were 15, 16, and the teacher was 24, there is not that much difference and with over 65% of high school girls/guys having some sort of sexual activity its going to happen. THe age of consent needs to change especially w hen these girls come back a few years later and scream MOLESTER after a 4 or 5 yr relationship, after reaching 18, and then of course file civil suits on John Does 1 thru 100. They will get some nice shush money in a few months and never have to work a day in their lives.

Brenda you idiot , Dont you realize how ignorant you sound. So regardless its okthen , These kids areRead More still minors who are still growing mentally and pphysically . For a teacher to physiologically and physically take an advantage of that is a predator. Your talking about a person who went to college git a degree and became a principal, That means she probably has a masters degree.Compared to a child who is still growing up mentally .Wow you have issues .I send my kids to learnnot to be taking as sexuall object for teachers own wants.WWeather this kid consented or not any adult knows better. These girls were probably to ashamed to say anything .Brenda once again this shows how ignorant your pist is.

@brenda, read about the reasoning behind statutory rape laws. Also, teachers have a duty not toRead More enter into sexual relationships with students. This goes for legal college aged students but most especially for minors in jr. High and high school. These are kids for Christ's sake and she is a predator. She went after girls she knew would want and need attention and not be likely to tell a parent or school official of any improprieties.

folks the sky is not falling. I have a few credit cards. Once or twice a year either I notice a badRead More charge on my account, or there's one of these hacks, and my card needs to be cancelled. No money out of my pocket, and no real hassle, as I can use a different card until I get the replacement. No way am I going to carry around $100 all the time so I can buy gas. I do think that the credit card companies are going to get tired of the cost on *their* end from this fraud, and tighten up security. But I'm not going to change my life because of it. Just keep an eye on your account (I use Quicken so I see the charges the day after I make them).

Card using enthusaists kind of deserve to have this happen to them. By using your cards everywhereRead More you go, do you realize you are taking a large chunk of the businesses profit and choosing to give it to banks and credit card processors rather than the business itself? You, by using your cards, also force businesses to raise prices. Stop using your cards and you won't have to worry about security breaches AND you help businesses AND you help yourself by allowing businesses to lower prices.
Don April 20, 2014 at 08:09 am
For all the years I've had debit cards, never used them. If you're somewhere where credit cards, aRead More check or cash in your pocket can't be used, you shouldn't be there. Besides, most of you forget about all those last minute withdrawals and Irresponsibility takes over, yet you're still surprised- "what happened my bank account?"- the drunken stupor in the bar, or knee jerk "i gotta have it". Most can't afford those approaches, and the service fees know that

Brenda- the victim has nothing to do with plea deals- it is between the prosecutor and the defenseRead More attorney. The prosecutor is in essence representing the victim. So he and the Defense attorney get together over drinks and decide the defendants fate.

Perhaps the only solution would be to have it made outside the USA. and have the company import it,Read More problem solved. Most Americans dont like these odors that burn the eyes etc. but they are getting accustomed to ordering them in restaurants that specialize in certain ethnic foods, then they can leave eating establishment and not have to smell it anymore. They were nice people but never understood why Americans found fault with their cooking smells. Perhaps this is the case here with sriracha.

@JD tippit -- Preliminary press releases almost always report the minimum amount from the bailRead More schedule. Final bail is usually adjusted after investigative reports are completed. The county D.A., or in this case the U.S. Attorney (bank robbery=federal offense), will seek enhancements base on the investigator's findings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This explains why your friendly "sock sniffer's" original bail started at $5k, but escalated to $1M when evidence revealed that he was allegedly a serial pedophile who attempted to kidnap a young girl. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the US attorney gets this case, there is no doubt that the multiple counts of bank robbery with a firearm will cause his bail to soar. But, I doubt that you will see that level of follow-up in the media for this case. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BTW: I don't mind explaining these things to you and others who are unfamiliar with the legal system. I just find it sad that you tend to frequently embarrass yourself on the Patch by making absurd comments before you have made any apparent effort to educate yourself. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perhaps, if you spent just a little more time gathering some facts on topics, you could provide insightful comments instead of the misinformed remarks that you usually make. I'm sure it would draw more positive attention, rather than the hateful disdain from others that seems to follow you. ~Please accept this as constructive criticism... good luck.
