Where is the money going? Have you seen the big beautiful city hall building?
Carole Masson May 21, 2013 at 11:45 am
This is wrong. Our taxes paid to build the court house and we are still paying taxes to support it.…Read More Also now all the prisoners are going to have to be transported clear to Riverside for Court. Who is going to pay all the payroll time, gas, car upkeep for that? It will also place a burden on the low income for divorce, child support, small claims etc. City of Temecula needs to set their foot down with the county now!

@MALIBUSHYLAH- I do not have it wrong, we can argue politics all day, obviously times are not good.…Read More But, it is utterly rediculous that we spend 90 MILLION, yes with an "M," but The City of Temecula has not posted a full-time job in years! Yes YEARS! 90 MILLION, but never any job openings for The City of Temecula, must be why Murrieta's economy is always doing better than ours. We don't write any DUI's on Rancho California Road coming out of the wineries, never any DUI's from the trash leaving the casino. Temecula get it together!
MALIBUSHYLAH May 23, 2013 at 12:10 pm
@travis - first off, you got it wrong. The courthouses are funded through the state. The Temecula…Read More city hall, funded through Temecula taxpayer dollars. Completely separate funding. Here's a start where you can read about it: http://www.courts.ca.gov/2806.htm
BTW, anyone have an idea what it costs to operate a "tiny little courthouse"? I can promise you that it costs more than your $100 electric bill at home.
Secondly, this is not surprising. CA has a not had a solid balanced budget for years. $22 Billion in the hole. From natural disasters to crappy politicians, this state is a mess. Its not surprising that our education, courts, and basic services (like DMV) are cut. Why is this shocking to so many??!!

Something isn't right about this story. There's something the press hasn't told us.
Brenda May 23, 2013 at 04:16 pm
Welllllllllllllllllllll Michele,
1. to make people aware why there was a high speed chase around…Read More them at lunch time, especially with helicopters.
2. so us residents or working folk do not think there was a burglary or robbery at a home or place of employment
3. so that anyone who knows anyone with a red street bike will call in and possibly give information as to who the motorcycle rider is. As in, they saw him at a restaurant slinging few back so they called in to forwarn police when he got on the motorcycle. Or he threw a bag(with anything in it, drugs, empty container, when he saw police or during the high speed chase. An officer would have picked that up for later prosecution depending what was inside. There are many possibilities and the police have not released that information as they do NOT have anymore information.
They are asking the public for anymore information and that is exactly WHAT THE PATCH is asking for. I guarantee you that someone knows who this guy is and will call in if they read this or he will turn in himself.
Police do not always have a lot of information on a suspect so they ask the public through the press, EVEN THE TV, yep Michele, them too would give a short article like this, LOL. Sometimes police have more information but just do NOT want to release it to the public to ruin some portion of their case. You really should know all this hun. :) Oh, and number 17. Its nice to know if its criminal activity around your house so you can open back up windows, doors, take alarm off and all that too with as many of those home burglaries we get these days. We hear helicopters over our house and We go INTO LOCK DOWN, cause I cant even tell you how many times wanted guys have been chased through our neighborhood, not fun.
Michele Clark Powell May 23, 2013 at 02:31 pm
Ooookkkaaayyy....... did they run the registration? Is the bike stolen? How did they come to the…Read More conclusion that the driver was UTI? Much harder to assume in a motorcyclist since they have the ability to drive in a more erratic way than an automobile.
I really wish you guys would write complete stories. Why bother to write a story with no information? Maybe you should think about just having an incident page that you update in real time, and once you actually have some verified facts and enough information for a real article THEN you write one?? Just a thought, you know, in the name of real journalism and all.

You need the sales tax revenue that the dealership will bring in to help finance new roads and…Read More sidewalks. Maybe if the city spent money on Infrastructure instead of a new city hall, theater, and millions to try and stop the quarry. As far as low income housing goes I believe that is mandated from the US government that each city is to provide a certain amount of low income housing.
Steve Newman May 23, 2013 at 11:10 am
Whatever the naysayers believe- kudos to temecula for getting a high sales tax producer. My…Read More question, is where was Murrieta in all of this. Silence. Oh that's right, the Mayor was in china-nobody else can promote Murrieta?
Our car mall is a mini- mall another deal we lost to Temecula(Promonde Mal ring a bell) but let's concentrate on the Golden Urinal, oops, Triangle. It has brought this city so much.
Fauntleroy Murphy May 23, 2013 at 10:31 am
Nearly all subcommittees consist of only 2 members and those members are ALWAYS city council…Read More members. I wonder if they receive extra pay for their work on these subcommittees?
Paul Jacobs May 23, 2013 at 11:13 pm
Pedestrians need to be especially cautious on our roadways because they are more vulnerable to…Read More injury or death. According to the California Highway Patrol Statewide Integrated Traffic Report there were 32 pedestrians killed and 349 injured in 2010 in Riverside County.
Paul Jacobs May 23, 2013 at 10:53 am
TVOR, it's not about where I want sidewalks. The issue is our city leaders who ignore an incomplete…Read More and hazardous situation for pedestrians throughout our community. Menifee is a much younger city, but recognizes and solves public safety issues: http://blog.pe.com/menifee/2013/05/22/menifee-sidewalk-near-middle-school-set-for-construction-hans-christensen-middle-school-pedestrian-safety-in-menifee/

I think Paul notices they, like many trails, don't link up. You can not get from here to there…Read More safely, on a bike or in a wheelchair or pushing a stroller.
Jerry Simeon May 21, 2013 at 09:45 pm
This guy is a joke. Is it him or his deputies that aren't even good lawyers?? They're too lazy to…Read More even consider a well documented case or follow up.
Jill Wojcik May 21, 2013 at 06:54 am
I find Paul Zellerbach truly cares about crime victims and their survivors! Don't know how true this…Read More article is, but from what I know, he is a good man. I am a survivor of violent crimes.

Steve Newman You can think whatever you want but I think I see more trouble ahead. I would like to…Read More be wrong and believe in fairytales like the calif dep of health does, but all that I have seen in the past from southwest hospitals is nothing more than devastation and heart ache. I cant believe that they were given the go ahead to build this temecula hospital as the public was being reassured by them that everything had been fixed and somehow all the problems suddenly magically vanished just like that. The public was being told this at the very same time as death and destruction was continuing to happen in those hospitals. The horrifying and deadly problems are still happening from what people are saying. the dept of health must think that new wings, nice equipment and building another hospital is somehow a magical solution in solving all the problems of these hospitals. I guess they do not take into consideration that decent staff that will perform their job properly is also required and actually extremely important. I think that lying to the public about how everything is all cleaned up so they could look like they deserve their new wings and another hospital is just very pathetic. Action speaks louder than words and so far it has been all words and no action.
Steve Newman May 22, 2013 at 11:17 am
#Sierra Mist- ah you are back with your slanted beliefs. Universal took the lead and built the…Read More hospital. I didn't see anybody else out there. Even though they say southwest is a separate entity, you have some of the same board members. Doesn't look separate to me. That should be the concern. You are prejding based upon the past- let the hospital actions show how they will do.
Sierra Mist May 21, 2013 at 12:07 pm
What a shame the same company that runs the other 2 horrible hospitals is also going to run this…Read More one.The poor poor temeculans. If temeulans need medical help it would be best to get to a real hospital.
Tom Courbat May 22, 2013 at 12:10 am
Mr. Jacobs makes some powerful points. What could be more important than Public Safety? And the…Read More fact that there are no sidewalks in any number of high-traffic areas AND that the city council is non-responsive to requests to consider more sidewalks is really a travesty. I live in Murrieta, and I am in Temecula enough to warrant making a comment about this topic, even though I don't live in Temecula. I am a 100% service-connected disabled veteran, and I am constantly at risk of falling as a result of tripping hazards. I encourage the City of Temecula to have a study done on the need for safe sidewalks in Temecula and to then act on the recommendations.

@SA, you don't put your real name down because you are probably sitting at home watching TV while…Read More your kids are playing video games all day. In your driver's book manual it says that you must YIELD to all pedestrians and that people have the right away. So stay at home and continue to eat potato chips while the TV and Xbox raise your children for you. Get outside, get some sun, just like in the olden days!
Brenda May 21, 2013 at 07:33 pm
Oh Qwestion Everything,
It was a joke on my part. I thought it was on SA's also. LOL
Like, what…Read More else could they ask from all of us kind of joke?
But, I do have an issue with "pesky kids on scooters and skateboards" because we have had a number of those killed or seriously injured also, and not always the fault of the kid. We have also had people of all ages, kids, adults, elderly get hit by cars where there is not a bike lane, or sidewalk, and die or seriously injured. There is no reason to make it more difficult for those who use other modes of transportation other then cars, but there is plenty of evidence to show we need to do all we can to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Qwestion everything May 21, 2013 at 12:53 pm
Really, liability insurance for cyclist! Why stop there? How dare anybody that isn't in a car use…Read More the road. With this line of thinking, then all pedestrians that dare step on the asphalt should have liability insurance also. What about those pesky kids on scooters and skateboards? Yes, make it more difficult to use a mode of transportation other than a car/truck. Quit your whining.
